Ebook Recommendations

by Avid Reader on May 19, 2006

Ok, let me have it. Give me YOUR BEST ebook reads. Whatever I get, one or two or three, I’ll pick a few, read them and review them here.

Here are the ebooks that I have thus far:

  • Seduction of the Phoenix (Zhang Dynasty Book 1) by Michelle Pillow
  • Learning Charity by Summer Devon
  • The Dreamer’s Loom by Michelle L. Levigne

I did notice that Michelle Levigne does have a sci/fi series that looks really good. I may try those. Anyway, I’m looking historicals, sci-fi/fantasy ebooks, anything good/great.

Thanks in advance.

Yay, so glad you tried this one and I look forward to your opinion. I don’t think the pb copy has the naked backside image. I think it’s the image at the top of my review.

Dana 05.23.06 at 9:08 pm

It was Phantom of the Night.

Jorrie Spencer 05.23.06 at 5:43 pm

Okay, Shelby Reed is definitely on my tbb list. I look forward to your review.

Well, I started the Shelby Reed book last night and I have to say a big thank you. Jorie - she’s an excellent author, writes very well. You have to pick it up. I promise to do a review on this one and ReneeW did a great review recently which is where I first heard of her. That pic with the guy’s backside - uh, blushing, hope that’s not the cover of the pb version?

Cece: appreciate the rec and probably will give it a shot. Thank You.

RenéeW 05.23.06 at 1:36 am

Oh, Alyssa, I didn’t know it was available in a PB version. Must have this for my keeper shelf too.

Alyssa 05.22.06 at 11:15 pm

Jorrie, I’d definitely recommend Shelby Reed. I like everything she’s written, although I haven’t tried her latest one. I keep hoping it will come out in paperback. She writes great characters and emotional storylines. I bought a paperback version of A Fine Work of Art even after buying the e-book so I could have it for my keeper shelf. That’s how much I liked it.

Dana —  — -wait — which Pillow book was that?

Cece 05.22.06 at 9:22 am

Gayle Eden’s “Whispers in the Dark” it’s an erotic historical romance from Linden Bay — I was actually going to rec this for the Ja(y)ne’s next e-book picks too. (Caveat she is a writing friend, but I wouldn’t recommend anything I didn’t like myself) http://www.lindenbayromance.com/product_details.php?product_id=42

Lisa Marie Rice is probably the only ebook author I’ve read that I’d actually recommend someone.

I read a book by Pillow today that was really bad. I hope you have better luck with her.

Karen Scott 05.21.06 at 1:16 pm

Jorrie, she’s a fabulous writer!!

Jorrie Spencer 05.21.06 at 9:14 am

Shelby Reed’s name keeps popping up again and again. I’m getting curious.

any books in ebook format

Raine Weavers - Incubus and Howl (part of an anthology)
Shiloh Walker
Michelle Levigne
Shelly Laurentson
Joan Smith’s Belgrave House’s regency books.
Kyra Davis’ books
Erica Orloff. Do They Wear High Heels in Heaven?
Lynda Curnyn. Killer Summer
Kresley Cole. A Hunger Like No Other
Julie Kenner. The Givenchy Code and Manolo Matrix
Julie Leto. Dirty Little Secrets.

There are a number of Luna books in ebook format too (not the Gail Dayton ones though and I would like to read those).

One thing you can do is go to ereader and browse the romance section. If you find a book that you like you can try to find it at paperback reader or the publisher’s website to see if it is cheaper and in LIT format.

Hmm, I haven’t read that many new ebooks lately due to needing a new reader but authors I’ve enjoyed in the past are:

Denise Agnew
Suzanne Allain
Sharon K. Garner
Dee Lloyd

And then there’s Linnea Sinclair but since her stuff is now out in paperback, not sure she counts. :D

KarenS beat me to it. I highly recommend A Fine Work of Art by Shelby Reed. Excellent book.

Keishon 05.20.06 at 7:12 pm

any books in ebook format?

Books that are only available in ebook format. I’ve both of you all’s contest summary and have added a couple of titles to my list. I look forward to what you all will be reading next month :-) You both can vet out the bad books for me.

I read one of Levigne’s fantasy novels (I think it was from Amber Quill) and it was pretty good.

Has it all, and a clear, if not striking, voice.

Jane 05.20.06 at 8:18 am

are you talking e published books or any books in ebook format?

Keishon 05.20.06 at 8:08 am

Oh, thank you, Karen!

Karen Scott 05.20.06 at 7:22 am

I’m not into Sci Fi books. I can watch ‘em, but I find them difficult to read, so none of my recs will contain sci fi books!

Anyway, here are my recs:

Sarah McCarty - Promises Prevail (Promises series) (EC)
Shelby Reed - Midnight Rose/A Fine Work of Art/The Fifth Favour
Katherine Allred - The Sweetgum Tree (Cerridwenpress.com)Barbara Sheridan - Bittersweet Surrender (Cerridwen Press.com)
