More Books TBR

by Avid Reader on September 30, 2006

Well, I bought more books yesterday and one I just took a chance on and bought it. New author and all and it was on sale (more on that later). I am excited to have two books by Julia Spencer-Fleming to read back to back or I may take a break between them but I am excited about her series as she did what many readers already had suspected in this triangle of sorts and it doesn’t bother me. Not really. I just love the way this woman writes! Here are my books and planned books:

  • The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox. I’d heard great things about this book. It’s a suspense novel and not available in ebook (bummer).
  • Reason to Live by Maureen McKade. Bookpimp Jayne did a great review on it and I love a good western (miss you LaVyrle Spencer!). Can’t wait to read it.
  • Bread and Roses too by Katherine Paterson. A YA novel that sounded good.
  • All Mortal Flesh by Julia Spencer-Fleming. Excellent series. I bought Into Darkness and Into Death last year but held onto it all this time. One of my quirks.

Planned purchases or what I’m looking at getting:

  • The Widow by Carla Neggers comes out as ebook Oct 1 here.
  • Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris. Saw it at B&N but want the ebook.
  • Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier. Ebook comes out Oct 3rd here.

Now I’m gonna go hide and read my books. Take care.

Hey Dance chica,

I am the last reader on earth to not read the Southern Vampire novels but I own them all and will read them — -one day soon.

I don’t mind having a huge TBR because I’ve always said that if I lost my job or whatever or just couldn’t afford books, I’ll have my TBR pile.

You know, I never thought about it that way. I’ve always complained about all the books I have in my pile and how I need to read some first…But yeah, if I ever lost my job or anything, I wouldn’t have to worry about not having books to read. That’s a good way to look at it. See, now you’ve given me a reason to justify more book buying. LOL.

I received Grave Sight when it first came out but I haven’t read it yet. I’m a big fan of Harris’s Southern Vampire series though. Have you read those? I really enjoy them. :-)

Hi Ladies,
jmc:
Jacob Have I Loved is listed there as one of her books. I’ll have to find that title if you loved it so much!

Mailyn: I don’t mind having a huge TBR because I’ve always said that if I lost my job or whatever or just couldn’t afford books, I’ll have my TBR pile. There are advantages to having a huge stack of books around. I’d feel funny not having a TBR pile, honestly, since I’m so used to it.

I picked up Harris’s Grave Sight at the library this afternoon. Am enjoying it so far, and think I’m going probably going to write a review of it, maybe do a comparison to the first Grave book.

Do you know if Bread and Roses’s author is the same Katherine Paterson who wrote Jacob Have I Loved? One of my favorite YA books that I originally read as a kid.

I don’t know any of these but I can tell you that my TBR scares me. I’ve never liked having books to be read. In fact, I never sued to. I would always buy a book, read it then go get the next. This year I’ve gotten really bad and I just buy, buy, buy!

LOL. Love your blog! (^_^)
