A Good Day to Shop

by Avid Reader on January 1, 2007

Happy New Year.

The streets were empty and so I went to the bookstore today and bought a couple of books: Meljean Brook’s Demon Angel and The Rest Falls Away by Coleen Gleason. Both are paranormals. Jane has been doing some serious book pimping for Demon Angel. Can’t wait to read both.Demon Angel (Berkley Sensation) I was surprised at the size of Meljean’s book. It’s a pretty good size there, clocking in at 412 pages with a sneak preview of Demon Moon at the back. Can’t wait to read it. The Gleason book had a eye-catching cover. The only other book that I’m anticipating Patricia Briggs new one, Blood Bound, Jan 30, 2007 pub date. And that’s about it for right now. What books are you looking forward to reading this month? Maybe I can get some ideas from you.

I’m reading Meljean’s book right now and then I’ll get to The Rest Falls Away. Love the cover.

Amie: I’ve enjoyed Lisa Gardner’s suspense novels. Thanks for the reminder.

May, great review, btw. It is a pretty thick book. I’ve already started it.

CindyS: I hope you find your copies soon. Waldenbooks had it out early.

Jane and Dance Chica - Who’ll read it first eh? LOL. I can’t wait to read it and discuss it with you guys.

The only two books I’m looking forward to this month are The Rest Falls Away and Blood Bound. I cannot wait for more Mercy Thompson. Very excited about that one!

I haven’t gotten The Rest Falls Away yet, but I’d love to see a review of Meljean’s Demon Angel.

Demon Angel is a huge book, especially for a debut. LOL. When I interviewed her, she said something about keeping her word count down, which I thought had to be wrong because every author wants to write more, not less. It turns out she meant exactly that: she wanted to write a shorter novel.

I’m also looking forward to the Briggs novel, as well as Eileen Wilks’s Blood Lines.

I’m looking forward to the Gleason book too, so I can’t wait to see what you think about it. (and I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket but I’ll just have to be patient). I’m looking forward to the new Lisa Gardner, HIDE, which I believe is a January release and SEP’s new release (which is actually early february)

Happy New Year Keishon! Glad you are back!

Those are the two books I’m waiting to buy - things move slower up here after Christmas. CindyS

I am very excited about the Brigg’s book. Am hoping the fedex fairy brings it early. The Gleason book does have a beautiful cover but I found the story to be a bit too derivative. It really is Buffy in Victorian England.
