News Around the Web

Well, it seems that Janet Evanovich and Stephen Cannell’s collaborative effort, No Chance, may have “no chance” of being released anytime soon. Galleycat.com reports that Janet Evanovich confirmed the claims that the book was on hold and stated scheduling conflicts. I can’t say that I am sorry to hear the news. However, Amazon.com still has the book listed for October release.

Lisa Valdez’s anticipated follow-up, Patience, is no longer listed at Amazon.com.  Sorry to see this. Passion was released in 2005. It’s been almost two years since last book was released. Will readers ever read Patience? Will readers run out of patience is a better question. Her website hasn’t been updated since May 2007.  Oddly enough, the last listed  release date was May 2007. Anybody with news, please share.

Harry Potter mania has started at my local bookstore. They have put out a lot of the most popular children’s and teen fiction books with Ms. Meyer’s New Moon and Twilight heading the bunch. Since this is Harry’s last outing, it’s time to promote other books that are just as good or even better than Harry Potter.  On release day I recommend fans stay off the computer and cut off the television.

Joining the chorus of other readers who appreciated the readers who went to RWA conference and reported back: thank you. It was the best coverage I’ve ever seen on the ‘net. Like many other readers who were at home this year, we plan to be there next year. Right? Blog hopping, I see somebody needed to share the fact that one, two or three–who knows–authors felt uncomfortable with reviewers being at the conference this year. First, I don’t think this is the first year reviewers or readers have ever attended the conference. Secondly, what was the purpose of sharing their discontentment on the ‘net? Makes no difference to me. Our money spends just as well as yours. I find the whole thing silly. No links.

Well, I emailed the author with no response. Who knows what is going on. I just hope if someone spots it at the store, they’ll blog about it.

I’ve given up on Patience. At this point I will be surprised if it is ever released. That’s just me.. being very negative. I was really looking forward to it.
