TBR Challenge: The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory

by Avid Reader on September 29, 2007

the-other-boleyn-girl.jpgI ask you: Just how hot is this cover? I’ve heard so many great things about this book that it must be moved from my TBR pile. How many readers out there have this book and just haven’t read it yet? Anybody up for a challenge? Well, I am. I plan to have this book read and reviewed on my site by Nov 30th. The book is a tome of sorts and I am a very slow reader. Eric Bana as King Henry VIII. Swoon. Worthy.

A sumptuous and sensual tale of intrigue, romance and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in European history, “The Other Boleyn Girl” tells the story of two beautiful sisters, Anne (Natalie Portman) and Mary (Scarlett Johansson) Boleyn who, driven by their family’s blind ambition, compete for the love of the handsome and passionate King Henry VIII (Eric Bana). While both women eventually share the king’s bed, only one will ascend to the throne for a brief and turbulent reign that ends tragically with a swing of the executioner’s sword.

Coming soon to a theatre near you Feb 2008.

Excerpt for The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory can be found here and buy the ebook here (at SimonSays.com). It’s also available in trade paperback, hardcover, audio CD, audio download and audio cassettes.

I read this book about three years ago on the recommendation of another reader and I couldn’t put it down. It is a tome, but it went pretty fast (and I, too, am a slow reader). I’m looking forward to the movie.

I saw this cover and it certainly caught my eye. The book may or may not be in my tbr pile. heh. It’s all unpacked in boxes in the basement. :-P The movie (or DVD) is absolutely on my radar.

Oh great! Mad, I hope you do join in. I own the book and the ebook. Heh. I’m a historical fiction buff and I’ve never read Gregory before so I’m really excited to read this book.

This was one of the books that ‘got’ me back into reading from fanfic *G*. I loved the Queen’s Fool and bought this after finishing. LOVE this book.

No clue if I will see the movie though…
