Susan outdid herself with this one. I was quite proud to feature news of its release in my weekly webzine, including a wonderful review of the book from staff reviewer Frost. It's apparent that Susan has a talent of writing in genres that can snatch the attention of not only her YA-targeted audience, but also those adults that simply want a good, heartfelt read. "Friends Unlikely" tackles some very sensitive and serious subjects, and it is my own personal wish that some day every school system in the country will make this a mandatory high school read. J. L. Sounds like it hits a lot of teen age problems. I personally think it would make a great movie and serve as an eye opener. Now a days most parents, myself included tell our children to stay away from kids who di drugs, but maybe we are doing it all wrong. Maybe the kids that do drugs need to hang out more with the kids that don't. Different something to think about. Wow Susan this sounds like a real tear jerker. The characters are touching and it is a must read for teens everywhere. Susan Alvis has written a book so powerful it is bound to be remembered by all who read it. Although it is heavily emotional and deals with some very difficult issues it is done with realism and in a way that shows compassion and love for all those whom those issues touch. I can't compliment this book enough and I highly recommend it! I can only hope that Susan will touch us with more novels such as this. She truly will make a difference in the lives of her readers with her very powerful words. Friends Unlikely is a wonderful story.
