Film: Why Did I Get Married?

It’s Sunday and I have no new topics to post today but - I saw this wonderful movie last night, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? The film stars Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith and cast. Perry presents to us four couples with four different marital situations. One couple has had to deal with the loss of a child, another couple have baby mama issues and her man not being the major bread winner, the third couple has the “career first” and family second issues and last but not least, a philandering husband who doesn’t find his wife attractive due to her being overweight.

I’ve always been a big fan of Tyler Perry. He spotlights African-Americans in positive roles with inspirational messages about love in every form and in this case, it’s about married love. I rented this movie from Netflix but I will be purchasing my own copy. This movie speaks about some of the realities of marriage and it doesn’t matter if you’re single, married or divorced - Perry presents some of the realistic situations or challenges most marriages are faced with and approaches it with a balance of humor and sadness. The former is especially true as there are many funny scenes along with a few sad ones. Dialogue is inspiring as always and I never did see his play but the movie is just wonderful. Rent it if you haven’t seen it - you won’t be disappointed. I guess I am probably the last person in the world to watch this movie as I had heard all the buzz about it when it was first released from friends and colleagues. However, if you’re like me and haven’t seen it, you should.
