In light of the recent salmonella outbreak, I find it incredulous that the FDA doesn’t even have a clue as to what is going on. Just last week, it was reported that tomatoes may not be the source of the outbreak after all. The FDA says they are looking at other fresh produce - like jalapeno peppers and salsa ingredients. WTF? So, the causative agent is still out there and no one has a clue where to look for it? Scary. I did notice most fast food restaurants [cough] have started serving fresh tomatoes again but according to farmers, sales have dipped and they fear that it will take time for the industry to recover from the bad publicity.
