Breaking Dawn: Will Fans Still See the Twilight Movie?

by Avid Reader on August 6, 2008

in Avid Musings

Just pondering aloud if readers who were more than dissatisfied with the conclusion of the Twilight saga would still be interested in the movie? The movie isn’t due out until the second week of December. Maybe the producers will hope fans suffer from a short memory spans. As for me — I will forego the film adaptation. The publicity shots does not engender me to the project. I thought Twilight was a great read but such is life, I’ve moved on to the next great thing. Whatever that is. Ha. Bet you were waiting for me to say what that next great thing was, too. Well, maybe not.

I think that the main disappointment for me was that for quite a bit of the book, she geared us up for an epic fight. But in the end, it still fizzled out to a happy ending.

Only one peron (Irina) was actually killed, and due to the fact we only really met her when she died, I had no real emotional outfall when she died.

Then, of course, Renesmee. Her name I can accept now — a unique name for a kind of unique baby, and also a hybrid name for a hybrid. Renee (human) and Esme (vampire), and Carlisle and Charlie for her middle name (Carlie).

I’ve already seen the movie, of course, and I hope that the next one is better. It was just a little too awkward for my liking. Some parts I just wanted to hide my head and groan. But people should still see it. I think the only reason it has made so much is the huge fandom. I’m not sure if I’ll buy the DVD, or if I want to watch it again.

Abuse me all you like — that’s my opinion!

jessica January 14, 2009 at 5:58 pm

hey. i enjoyed all of the twilight saga. My favorites were elipse and breaking dawn, so i dont really know where all the criticism is coming from. I thought the movie was very well put together, but i would imagine that making a breaking dawn movie would be tough. it was very detailed and out of the ordinary, never the less very good.

Rosalie January 13, 2009 at 4:55 pm

I’m auditioning for Irina or Jane. Noroc! to all fellow auditioners!

Rosalie January 13, 2009 at 4:53 pm

I’m definately trying out for either older Renesmee, or one of the girl Volturi ppl. I was also thinkin of trying for Irina, but I’m still not sure. I swear, if they don’t hold auditions in Charlotte, N.C, Imma gonna be sooo mad! I don’t wanna go aaaaaall the way to California just to audition. But…if I hafta, I will!

Tanya January 2, 2009 at 5:54 pm

Hannah December 4, 2008 at 6:55 pm

um hi. i saw your comments on breaking dawn so if the next person who comments could please tell me why breaking dawn is so bad i would appreciate it. thx

Avid Reader December 2, 2008 at 8:53 am

Let’s keep it civil. I hope other readers will ignore comments that are rude or disrespectful to others especially those comments that do not add anything to the discussion. Carry on.

Jennifer December 2, 2008 at 6:21 am

If anyone that hates the whole twilight series shall be punished and will go to hell. I LOVE TWILIGHT SO SO SO SO SO SO SO… MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i read all the books and wanna see all the movies rite this instant but cant! so shit like!!!

Kelsey November 30, 2008 at 9:29 pm

I thought the Twilight movie was awesome. Although, the book was awhole lot better, they did a pretty good job considering their budgets. I haven’t read Breaking Dawn yet. But I have heard and read a lot of mixed comments on the book. Stephenie Meyer is a really good author, so I am hoping for the best.

Amber November 23, 2008 at 2:06 am

i think the 4th book was alsome and i hope they make a movie for it too

sinead November 20, 2008 at 9:54 am

omg i think breaking dawn was the best book ever! i think it ended perfectly and i am glad there wasnt a fight because then many of them would have to die. stephanie meyer cant please everyone, thats impossible! i love the whole twilight series.

marie November 13, 2008 at 7:27 am

And a comment to the parent Tessa..YES, I AGREE! AS AN ADULT MYSELF (32) I HAVE TO SAY IT IS THE BEST SERIES I HAVE EVER READ!

marie November 13, 2008 at 7:24 am

Can any of you read??? For the ones who found Breaking Dawn to be other than great, have no concept of the word “FANTASTIC!”

Alexander November 10, 2008 at 11:45 pm

I THINK ALL BOOKS WERE GREAT AND I THINK THERE WILL BE AOTHER BOOK BUT THIS WILL BE ABOUT NESSE AND JACOB AND ABOUT THERE LOVE LIKE BELLA AND EDWERD SO LET SEE WHAT HAPPEN ALL I KNOW THAT NEW MOON COMES TO THEARTHER 2009 SO LET SEE

Jules November 7, 2008 at 9:04 pm

I think that everyone is crazy… for saying they LOVED the 4th book! I am not the only who is upset by the outcome of the 4th book. And yes it is a “love story” but there was a small battle in the 3rd book with Victoria and her minons. I think that if she was going to build up the fight between them, she should have at least brought their rein to an end. But hey thats just me and like 1000 other peoples op who aren’t affaird to call b.s. here. She didn’t know how to finish the book. Lame…

Monica Cortés November 4, 2008 at 8:20 am

I think that the last book breaking dawn was awesome. Except for the fact that there was to much for one book. I would have to pause at every turining point if you know what i mean. I still think Stephenie Meyer should have made a 5th book, there was too much information in just one book. I just wish she wouldn’t have ended the series.=(

Paige November 2, 2008 at 9:05 pm

I would like to see all of the books made into movie and i would go see them. I liked the breaking dawn book but i think that there should be a 5th book on my opinion. Also i will most definatly go see the movie Twilight.

JP October 29, 2008 at 3:25 pm

If there had been a big battle between the Cullens side and the Voltari, the only way to make it feel realistic would have been to kill off A LOT of the characters (including many of the GOOD guys). How many of you would have then been complaining about that? Come on! Ms Meyer did an amazing job with an incredibly complicated set of circumstances. Just think how difficult it must have been to “cover all the bases” when it came to how one power would react with another! There were so many possibilities, and I think she isn’t getting enough credit for making it all work.

Rach October 28, 2008 at 6:33 pm

I think anyone who didn’t like anyone of those books is absolutley crazy. All of the books are amazing. In my opinion twilight is the best series ever written, and always will be.Heck yeah,Im goin to see the movie.I love Twilight!

Shannon October 24, 2008 at 11:36 am

I loved the series and I foresee several spinoff stories to come obviously Jake and nessie, maybe nessie in the Amazon…I think Stephenie Meyer will take the story from nessie’s point of view maybe 50 years down the road or something like that. Maybe then there would be a show down with the Volturi after Bella has had more time to learn her powers full stength…

Tessa October 22, 2008 at 9:45 am

Did anyone every think that maybe in the future there could be one more book. I purchased Twilight for my daughter and read it my self. Then went and bought the other three. I am on my third go around of reading them. If you get them on CD and just listen there are alot of aspects to the books that you did not realize are there. For the young people the books hit home about everyday life minus vampires and werewolves. Parent problems, school, dating, ect. For those that did not like the end of Breaking Dawn you have to look at the book as a love story, not as an action book. As a parent I think this is one of the best series I have every read.

J.D. Schuyler October 10, 2008 at 2:03 am

I am going to watch Twilight… I have to. When your count down starts 12.12.07 and its almost time for the release of the movie, I’d say it’s a must. However, I disliked Breaking Dawn very much! I didn’t understand why she would build up a climax with the volturi… mind you for the past couple of books, and then do absolutley nothing when it came down to the fight between them. BOO… again I scream BOO! But that’s just my opinion. Hey I’m sure there are people out there who hate what I write; but I promise not to end my series the same way, making everyone questioning WHT!

Jenny September 25, 2008 at 6:18 pm

I haven’t read the whole book but I went to amazon and read as many excerpts as I could and I really liked it. And I think that there is something wrong with the people who don’t like it.

Kayti September 8, 2008 at 11:04 am

I loved all the books. I just think that there is another story intertwined after breaking dawn. I have many questions just-a bubbling up in my head that it’s driving me insane. I think that I will go see all the movies they make. Only because I’d like to compare the differences between the book and the movie. I also want you all to know that I have made a twilight series fansite that has chat and stuff like that up. If you would like to check it out go to freewebs.com/twilighers and yes i know there is not a t.
If you feel i should change or add something i am more than welcome to hear your thoughts. My e-mail is snickersbabyy19@aol.com
Thanks True Twilighters.

I loved the Breaking Dawn book and i will definitely see the movie if at all possible. What is it about the last book that everybody hated so much?

Renee August 27, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I will most definitely not be spending my money to see this movie. I don’t expect perfection from authors. No author is ever going to satisfy everyone, but Breaking Dawn was a disappointment beyond measure!! I just hope Stephenie will go back to raising her kids and leave the literary world alone.

kaitlyn August 19, 2008 at 3:27 pm

I did like what happened in breaking dawn… i just didnt like HOW it happened. I am a fan.

vianess August 18, 2008 at 9:19 pm

first of all i love breaking dawn!!!!! it was really great from my point of view!!! (personal opinion ok??)
and even if i didnt like it i dont understand why should this interfer with twilight movie??? personaly think the ones that are changing def. their point of view just because the series didnt end as they want to.…. those are not fans, and think they really never liked twilight.

kaitlyn August 18, 2008 at 8:35 pm

It will come out on November 21, 2008… Harry Potter was pushed back till summer 09 so Twilight took their spot.

liana August 18, 2008 at 6:42 pm

is the movie twilight coming out on November the 21st like stephenie meyers official website says or december the 12th ?

Chloza August 15, 2008 at 5:57 am

Well, straight after reading Breaking Dawn, I couldn’t even think about the Twlight movie, let alone look at the actors. I couldn’t even imagine reading any of the books again.

Now I’m in my little world of denial, I can think about the movie. I might see it, it looks promising to me. I’ll just pretend there was no Breaking Dawn. I love the cast, and I know they can help rekindle my fandom.

But I don’t want to see BD made into a film. No way.

Kaitlyn August 14, 2008 at 6:03 pm

I will definitely be going to see Twilight. There were many moments in the first three books that I would enjoy seeing brought to film. I am very curious how they are going to change the boys into Werewolves… If they do make a movie for Breaking Dawn, I will most likely go see it. I am definitely in support of the cast, and love the chemistry they all have so far, and if the cast continues to do well, then I will support them by going to see the Breaking Dawn movie(s).

bookcollector August 7, 2008 at 10:54 am

I will admit that the conclusion of the Twilight saga left me wanting, but i don’t think that Breaking Dawn has ruined the movie-adaptation of Twilight. i like to enjoy what i have, and i think the film of Twilight will have a sufficent resemblence of what the original book was. However, there is no way in the world that i would venture to see another Twilight-related film. If the producers announced that they were going to film any of the other books, ESPECIALLY Breaking Dawn, they’d hear nothing but “hatemail” from me.

tcalo August 7, 2008 at 5:37 am

I am disapointed with the book, but I think I will go to see the movie, after all I did like twilight. Though I don’t think they are going to make a movie of breaking dawn, and if they do I will not goint to see that.
