About

About Me

My name is Keishon and I’ve been an avid reader for 18+ years. The first book I read was by V.C. Andrews, Flowers In the Attic. I went on to read the entire series about a group of kids whose mother abandons them in their grandmother’s attic.

Next came romance. I started with a gothic romance title called, The House of a Thousand Lanterns by Victoria Holt and eventually read her entire backlist (or as much of it as I could find at the time) then I moved onto LaVyrle Spencer, Judith Ivory, Laura Kinsale, Judith McNaught, Diana Gabaldon, Mary Balogh, Amanda Quick and so on and so forth. I am always looking for new authors to try.

Romance Fiction Today

My attitude about romance today is this: I’ve been there and done that. Any romance written today has to really impress me. I’ve learned to find romance elsewhere, however — in my mystery reading (Julia Spencer-Fleming’s series or Dana Stabenow’s now defunct Liam Campbell series) and fantasy where Catherine Asaro’s work usually has a strong romantic subplot like Primary Inversion and young adult novels like Sarah Dessen’s The Truth About Forever or Annette Curtis Klause’s Blood and Chocolate.

Blog

This is a reader blog with one blog author. I may have guest reviewers upon occasion. I started this blog because I enjoy reading and discussing books and I plan to do that for as long as I find it fun to do so. I do have a full-time job and a social life. I post about books/commentary at my leisure. I do try to post regularly but it won’t be an everyday thing. Also, this is not a romance blog or a mystery blog. I read everything which is why I use the moniker: avid book reader. If you’re looking for reviews of new books then this blog may not be to your liking. I read/post whatever I’m in the mood for reading/posting. All opinions are welcome.

Recommendations

My opinion on books won’t mean anything to you unless we enjoy the same books. Do we enjoy similar authors? Check the archives. Read my reviews.

Where Do My Books Come From?

The major source of the books that I read and review on this blog come from my own personal library of books unless I specify otherwise. I own a lot of older books that I would like to read and get rid of.

Contact Me

I actually enjoy receiving email (if it’s not spam). Got a rec for me? Want to leave me feedback? Just drop me a line if you want to get in touch.
