Saving Francesca, Melina Marchetta
May 15th
Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta is the author’s second published work set in her hometown of Sydney, Australia. I am working my way through her back list. I know she has recently released a fantasy novel, Finnikin of the Rock. Quite a big step away from the coming of age stories that she does so well. I can tell right
Looking for Alibrandi, Melina Marchetta
May 5th
Looking for Alibrandi (2006) is a YA contemporary novel written by Melina Marchetta. It’s available in digital as well as paper. The premise is a coming of age story that contains a nice, brief romance on the side. I found this book utterly compelling and hard to put down.
The author sets her story in her own backyard–the Outback. The story

The Devil’s Star, Jo Nesbø (Harry Hole Series)
Jan 6th
The Devil’s Star (Random House UK) by Jo Nesbø and translated by Don Bartlett, is the third book in the Harry Hole series set in Oslo, Norway.
What can I say? I love this series. For crime fiction fans looking for something new, this series serves up more than just your typical police procedural.

Senetra’s Review of “The Mane Squeeze (Pride Story No.4)” by Shelly Laurenston
Nov 17th
I purchased my first Shelly Laurenston book, Pack Challenge in early 2007, after someone on a blog or board mentioned it as a good shifter story. Sadly, I didn’t read it for over a year because I always had another book I wanted to read more.
Once I got into the mood for a shifter story, I read “Pack Challenge” and immediately purchased
REVIEW: The Redeemer (Harry Hole No.4) by Jo Nesbø and Translated by Don Bartlett
Aug 11th
THE REDEEMER (Harry Hole No.4) by Jo Nesbø and translated by Don Bartlett is apart of a series and is published by Random House (UK).
Norwegian crime novelist Jo Nesbø has penned another page-turner. This man is simply brilliant when it comes to plotting and characterizations.
There’s not one boring scene in his books. None. Nada. Nesbø‘s

*****
I read a preview of this book at the end of the previous book in the series, and based on it and the plot description, I was not too sure of
REVIEW: ‘Bone Crossed’ by Patricia Briggs
Feb 11th
Bone Crossed (2009) by Patricia Briggs is the fourth book in the Mercy Thompson series. Werewolves, fae, vampires and other hidden creatures live among humans or so says Mercy, the narrator of this series. By the way, I’ll try not to spoil it for you if you haven’t started this series yet.
Mercy is a shape shifter or

REVIEW: ‘Mystic River’ by Dennis Lehane
Sep 4th
Mystic River (2003) by Dennis Lehane is set in the author’s hometown of Boston. It is a poignant and emotionally moving story that cleverly disguises itself as a police procedural.
In fact, the story is told in third person and seems to be more of a character driven crime novel. One of the best I’ve read.
The story introduces
REVIEW: Risky Games by Olga Bicos
Aug 17th
There are so few well written, no — smartly written romantic suspense novels today. I’d be hard pressed to list you ten. I don’t mean to be dismissive but romantic suspense is my least favorite genre because they are almost always unoriginal with characters who do not speak or act to their stated potentials.
