i think the queen mean Bella as a vampire cold and beautiful, an the pawn mean Bella as a human warm and weak, but i don´t think it means that she is becoming a vampire. i think it mean that her human life is being underestimated because the pawn is always seen as the weakest chess piece, but even a pawn can beat the queen if its well played so somebody is going to make bella see the real importance of her human life and the memories she is not willing to let go no matter how much she loves edward…jacob??

What??? - does that mean Bella and Edward DO end up together? and get married? because i’d feel kind of bad on Jacob, i mean he rocks but anyone with any sence knows that Edward and Bella belong together :)????????

ok this is going to sound stupid but here goes. I think its edwards mind which of course makes bella the white queen and then i think the red pawn stands for the Volturi. see the pawn is less inportant in the game so its less inportant to edward and hes not worried about the Volutri but he is constently worried about bella makeing her the most inportant. ok that sounds even more stupid then in my head but o well

Nice review, Avid! I’ve been meaning to read this series for a while. Although I doubt it will fit into my current reading schedule, I think it sounds like a good series to read to/with my son when he gets a bit older.

I believe that the red pawn represents new born Bella. All she will think about is blood. I think the white piece represents Bella as a more experienced beautiful vampire. I can’t wait to read Breaking Dawn. I really hope Jacob dies, I hate him. I know Bella will be changed into a vampire, but I wonder how the wedding will turn out…

This sounds like a good one to try. I’ve never heard of Joan Wolf, but since she sounds like an old-style romance writer, and I do like such simply told stories. Am going to look for her books in the UBS.

I think its kind of funny how edward bought bella a before and after car ( in the first chapter it talks about how edward bought bella a before car , the guard, and a mystery after car for when she’s not so “breakable” and won’t need missile proof windows hahaha!

Yes, Rosie they did. I was more or less taking a digg at the magazine. I mean 11 million for baby pictures and I just don’t think the public really cares because when it’s all said and done - I doubt they’ll recoup the money back. People - at least those around me - are not spending their hard earned cash on Hollywood gossip. The only good to come out of this is that they are donating the money to charity.

Hi Vanessa - The American Duchess was written in third person. If I remember correctly when I read, The Arrangement, which is one of her longer historical novels, it was written in first person.

And yes, the ebook version is in non-DRM format.

I know I’ve read an enjoyed JW in the past. But I think it was her work in the longer Historical Romance format that I’m familiar with, rather than the regency stuff. She writes them in first person, doesn’t she? Although it’s been years since I read anything by her, I’m pretty sure they were all keepers.

When you say ‘unsecured’ to you mean it’s not locked with DRM?

Keishon, I saw a blurb the other day that the bidding war for the photos of the new babies was on but hadn’t heard it hit 11 million. Did the article you read say anything about Brangelina donating the money to charity? That’s what they did with the money they got for Shiloh’s pictures.
